Phishing: Department of Justice Report

�Phishing� is a term used to describe a criminal's creation and use of e-mails and websites (designed to look like e-mails and websites of legitimate sites) in order to deceive individuals into disclosing their bank and financial account information or other personal data such as usernames and passwords. The �phishers� use this information for criminal purposes such as identity theft and fraud.

North Akron Savings Bank Supports Garfield HS Girls Conference

North Akron Savings Bank was a proud sponsor of Garfield High School's 2004 Annual Girls Conference held November 12. Monica Robins, of television's WKYC Channel 3, was a guest speaker. Conference topics covered issues such as building self confidence, problem resolution, healthy relationships, and personal safety.
More than 100 girls attended the conference.


North Hill Branch Library Open

Visit the new North Hill branch of the Akron-Summit County Public Library! The new library features:

    The Humane Society of Greater Akron is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating animal abuse and suffering throughout all of Summit County. The Society restores and maintains the health of hundreds of animals each year . . . animals that have been abused and neglected . . . and finds new, loving homes for them.

  • More than 1,500 animals enter the shelter yearly.
  • 24-hour emergency service rescues more than 400 un-owned injured and ill animals each year.
  • Over 800 animals are placed with caring families each year.
  • No-time-limit-shelter: healthy, adoptable animals are cared for until they are adopted.
  • It takes, on average, $500 to restore an animal�s health and prepare it for adoption back into the community.
